Party held to thank Our School Bank' workers
United Community Bank hosted a thank you party for its "Our School Bank" fifth grade 'workers' at Mountain Area Christian Academy (MACA) on April 17.
The "Our School Bank" program was started at MACA this year with 50 participating students and nine 5th grade workers. The fifth grade bank 'workers', who met every Friday, actually operated a bank that students in grades 3-5 used to put money into personal savings accounts. The goal was to teach students how a bank operates and also how to save money throughout the school year.
"It was a wonderful banking year at the Christian Academy," said creator of the Our School Bank program, Sharon Arnold of United Community Bank - Blairsville's Marketing Department. "The third through fifth graders saved more than $1,500 and had fun doing it!"
After a party of four pizzas and one huge cookie, each worker was presented with a basket filled with candy in recognition of their hard work throughout the year.
United looks forward to MACA's new location next year, and wishes the students a wonderful summer.
