Georgia Mountains Hospice honors their volunteers during National Volunteer Month

On April 18, 2007, Georgia Mountains Hospice staff honored their volunteers with an appreciation luncheon to thank them for all they do throughout the year. The theme this year was Volunteers… "Faces of Caring", and it could not have been a more accurate description of the faces that were gathered there on that day. Volunteers arrived from each of the nine counties that GMH serves to share in the festivities of the day. They were served a wonderful lunch and then entertained with a slide show and the presentation of awards at the end of the luncheon. All volunteers received service award pins that recognized years of service from one year to several volunteers that have been with Georgia Mountains Hospice for eleven years, an amazing accomplishment in the world of volunteering.

The Volunteer staff of Georgia Mountains Hospice is made up of a phenomenal group of men and women who give tirelessly of themselves in order to make life easier for families and caregivers in this most difficult time. Georgia Mountains Hospice Volunteers offer a special kind of caring to patients and their families on a daily basis.

Georgia Mountains Hospice Volunteers may work in the office with administrative staff, work on the many fundraisers and events that we sponsor, or go into a patient's home to relieve a caregiver for a few hours each week. In whatever role you have chosen, the staff of Georgia Mountains Hospice knows that each and every day you make our jobs easier and the lives of these patients brighter.

Volunteers are an asset, not just financially, but spiritually. Georgia Mountains Hospice is aware that volunteerism, the contribution-of-self for reasons other than money, is what gives hospice its "soul".

Georgia Mountains Hospice is a non-profit organization that specializes in the care of terminally ill patients in their homes and the nursing home. We encourage you to attend the classes, see our office, meet the staff and find out what becoming a Georgia Mountains Hospice Volunteer can mean to you and someone in your community.
