Catch the excitement The 4th annual Blairsville Scottish Festival and Highland Games are coming to the North Georgia Mountains the weekend of June 8, 9 and 10, 2007. The sound of bagpipes can be heard throughout beautiful Meeks Park while Scottish athletes compete in events tracing back to early Scotland when Scottish men tested their strength against each other at Highland Gatherings. Visit the many Clans and see if you have Scottish ancestors. With golf originating in Scotland, the Kilted Golf Classic on Friday has special meaning and is open to all (kilts are optional). Sat. and Sun. events include Sheep Dog Herding, Gordon Setter Exhibition, weaponry demonstration, bagpipe, harp and fiddle workshops and more. Vendors offer Scottish food and merchandise. A wide range of activities are offered for children: Passport to the Clans, athletic competition, train rides, face painting, etc. A variety of music can be heard at the Ceilidh tent with a Scottish Rock Concert on the main field at 7:30 Sat. evening.
