Clayton Brown
Mr. Clayton Brown, 84, native of Blairsville, Ga., died Thursday, May 10, 2007.
Mr. Brown was born Thursday, November 30, 1922, in Union County, Ga., to the late Henry Franklin Brown and the late Collesta Thomason Brown. He was a member of Choestoe Baptist Church, Allegheny Masonic Lodge #114, F & AM, and The Lions Club. Mr. Brown was a veteran of the U.S. Army and was held as a P.O.W. during WWII in Germany. For his service to our country Mr. Brown was awarded The Purple Heart, among other medals. He was preceded in death by his wife, Susie Lance Brown; and brothers, Paul, Harmon and Emory Brown.
Survivors include his son and daughter-in-law, Gary C. and Maria Brown of Canton, Ga.; daughter and son-in-law, Edwina B. and Tim Garrison of Blairsville; brothers, Homer Brown of Rockmart, Ga., and Barney Brown of Blairsville; sisters, Ellen Collins of Blairsville, Ethel Self of Columbia, S.C., Ruby Sexton of Blairsville, Cleo Hooper of Hayesville, N.C., Connie Galloway of Gastonia, N.C., and Frankie Dunaway of Rome, Ga.; granddaughter, Kristi Brown of Houston, Texas; grandsons, Clay Brown of Canton, Ga., Chad Rich
and Rev. Trint Rich, both of
Blairsville; great-grandsons:
Lance Rich, Cayden Rich
and Trevor Norman; several
nieces and nephews, and many other relatives
and friends also survive.
Funeral services were
held Saturday, May 12,
2007 at 11 a.m. from the
Chapel of Cochran Funeral Home with Rev. Ken Zollinger officiating. Masonic rites were conducted by Allegheny Masonic Lodge #114. Music was provided by Bill Collins, Buddy Hunter, and Mac McGuire; and pianist, Martha Collins. Interment followed in Union Memory Gardens Cemetery with military honors conducted by the North Georgia Honor Guard. Pallbearers were members of Allegheny Masonic Lodge.
