Hazel Collins Clary

Mrs. Hazel Collins Clary, 91, of Blairsville, Ga., died Friday, May 4, 2007 at Union County Nursing Home in Blairsville.

Hazel was born Tuesday, July 27, 1915 in Union County, Ga., to the late Bob and Viola Collins, one of 6 children. She was preceded in death by her three brothers, Cecil, Jim, and R. Neal Collins.

Hazel attended Choestoe Elementary School, Young Harris Academy and graduated from Young Harris College in 1934. She graduated from Tift College in Forsyth, Ga. She married Ronald W. Clary in December 1936. Hazel taught school for several years, then in 1946, she and her husband started a mercantile business known as "Clary's." Hazel lived in Gainesville, Ga., for almost 50 years before returning to Blairsville in 2003. She was a member of Choestoe Baptist Church.

She was preceded in death by her husband in 1990.

Survivors include her son and daughter-in-law, Ron and Irene Clary of Gainesville; daughter and son-in-law, Joyce and Fred Woodward of Blairsville; sister, Catherine Fortenberry of Ault, Colo.; sister and brother-in-law, Betty and Jack Lawrence of Destin, Florida; grandchildren, Ron Woodward of Buford, Ga., Lynne Hampton of Fletcher, N.C., Susan and John Sutton of

Blairsville, Beth Sales of Pisgah

Forest, N.C.; step-grandchildren,

Lindsey and Baker

Davenport of Gainesville;

great grandchildren, Alysa Price of

Blairsville; Logan,

Ansley and Taylor Sales

of Pisgah Forest; several

nieces and nephews, and

many friends also survive.

Funeral services were

held Sunday, May 6, 2007 at 2 p.m. from the Choestoe Baptist Church with Rev. Ken Zollinger and Rev. Dick Stillwell officiating. Music was provided by Michelle Collins. Pallbearers were Jimmy Hunter, Andy Collins, Bobby Collins, Bill Lawrence, Joe Lawrence and Joe Collins. Interment followed in Choestoe Baptist Church Cemetery.
