Jake Levens became the Panthers first representative at the class AA state golf tournament in 10 years, after finishing as Low Medalist in the Region 8-AA tournament last month.
Levens, a sophomore, finished the state tournament with an 18-hole score of 84. He shot a 41 on the front nine and a 43 on the back nine. The tournament was held at Fields Ferry in Calhoun, Ga.
Levens got off to a good start, sitting at even par after six holes.
He finished the match with birdies on two holes, including hole 16 which requires shooting over the water to an island green.
"Jake did a good job," Panthers Head Coach Jim Hughes said. "[Representing the team at state], that in itself is quite an accomplishment. I think the experience he got from it is going to be invaluable."
The coach said that the goal for next season is to have the whole team make it to the tournament.
"We hope this is the start of some really good things," Coach Hughes said of his young club.
