The goal of the Vacation Reading Program is to encourage children to read for pleasure at times when they are not in school. Union County Public Library offers special programs and incentives to encourage children of all ages, from infants to teens, to read what they enjoy, and to read often. Parents, grandparents and other caregivers are also invited to participate and to help pre-literate children enjoy books and develop a love of reading.

This will be the third year that Union County Public Library has offered activities aimed directly toward teens. The library will sponsor two Teen Movie Nights this summer. Parents will need to come by the library to register and take a permission slip home with them. Teens must present this permission slip to gain entry into Teen Movie Night. Space is limited to the first 20 teens that register. Registration for each Teen Movie Night will begin June 4, 2007. Come to Union County Public Library to see what movies will be shown.

The Vacation Reading Program is supported in part by the Institute for Museum and Library Services under the provisions of the Library Services and Technology Act as administered by the Georgia Public Library Service. Friends of Union County Library and patrons of the library provide additional funding.
