Lion M.C. Stowe guest of UC Lions Club

Lions Lisa Little, M.C. Stowe and Arthur Gurr.
Adog that costs $35.000!!! Yes, however, this is no ordinary dog. This dog is a "Leader Dog", used to assist a visually impaired person to go where and when he or she would like without having to wait for a friend or relative. The cost includes the training from puppy stage to around two years of age. Now the recipient of a Leader Dog does not pay one penny for this special dog. The dog is free!!

Leader Dogs for the Blind is a Lions International approved project, headquartered in Rochester, Michigan on a 14 acre campus where the Leader Dog candidates learn basic obedience and guide dog skills, such as leading out in harness, followed by more advanced skills, including traffic responsibility and class readiness. Leader Dogs are seen with their recipients all over the world and the independence that they have is priceless.

Lion M. C. Stowe gave an excellent presentation as well as presenting a video. Introduced by Union County Lion Arthur Gurr, Lion Stowe's home club is the Toccoa Lions Club and he has been a very active Lion for 33 years. Retired from the Postal Service, Lion Stowe is a Past District Governor of 18-D and has served as chairperson in many areas including White Cane, L.C.I.F. and of course, currently, Leader Dog.

If you or someone you know is in need of the services of a Leader Dog, you may contact Leader Dog at this toll free number: 1-800-777- 5332 or write to Leader Dog, P.O. Box 5000, Rochester, MI 48308. Thank you Lion M.C. Stowe. Lions Motto: We Serve.
