Vacation Reading Program at UC Public Library

The Vacation Reading Program is just around the corner at Union County Public Library. This year's theme will be "Reading Takes You Everywhere" and will center on The Appalachian Trail. We are in the process of turning the Children's Area into The Appalachian Trail with everything from vines and trees to a tent and sleeping bags for camping. Our local United States Forest Service office has donated many posters and trail information to us and will be loaning their black bear to us this year.

Although registration for the Vacation Reading Program will not begin until June, we have already scheduled some fun activities for the children and are in the process of scheduling more. Instead of incentives at the end of summer, we are going to be putting small prizes in the children's bags that they pick up when they come to the library to register. Most of those prizes have already been purchased. We want to exceed our enrollment from last year and are asking for monetary donations to help pay for materials.

We are very excited to have two Teen Movie Nights planned for June and July. Mountain Regional Library System purchased projectors last year and one of them is housed at Union County Public Library. We will be able to project the movies onto a screen for added fun.

If you wish to donate to the Union County Public Library Vacation Reading Program, please stop by the library or mail your donation to: Union County Public Library, P. O. Box 1029, Blairsville, GA 30514. We look forward to a fun Vacation Reading Program and welcome any and all donations.
