Mock Trail held as part of SAAM

On Tuesday, April 17 the H.O.P.E. Sexual Assault Intervention Program held a Mock Trial as one of the special activities for SAAM (Sexual Assault Awareness Month). The Mock Trial was designed to portray what it's like to be a survivor of sexual assault facing your assailant in the courtroom. Even though rape is not a pleasant topic to address, it's important for each of us to be aware of this violent crime…a major problem in our society. Rape happens nationally, throughout the state of Georgia and even right here in our community.

A special thank you to Honorable Jonnie Garmon, Investigator Kim Thomas, Jeremy Clough, ADA, the students of Young Harris College who participated in this event and to Young Harris College for all of its help.

For further information on the H.O.P.E. sexual assault intervention program please contact Lori Fogle at 706-835-1637.

S.A.F.E. is the state certified domestic violence and sexual assault program serving Towns and Union Counties, and is a certified member of the Children's Advocacy Centers of Georgia. Partial funding is received from the Georgia Department of Human Resources.
