Fontana Village Resort to host The Women's Sportbike Rally With the overwhelming success of the inaugural Women's Sportbike Rally in 2006, we are pleased to announce the second installment and confirm that it will become an annual gathering for women sportbike riders and their guests. The event location will return to the Smoky Mountain region where riders are greeted with not only beautiful summer scenery but also endless miles of fantastic roads, including the framed 318 turns in 11 miles of Deals Gap, called, "The Dragon. The schedule will guarantee some exciting new changes and additions that you will not want to miss. Everything begins Friday, August 24th with registration, riding and the rally Kick-off-Meet 'n Greet. Saturday will consist of our annual group photo followed by riding over the Dragon, Cherohala Skyway, Foothills Parkway, Hellbender 28, and more stellar roads in the region. The day will conclude with our annual Saturday night party where the object is to eat, drink, win prizes and more. Reserved for Sunday will be for those who remain "to slay the Dragon" a few more times before heading home after the jam-packed sportbike weekend! The most important addition to the rally is our dedication to donate all proceeds to Tiffany Weirbach's "Sportbikegirl" Melanoma Foundation. A special woman who succumbed to Malignant Melanoma in 2001, she is to this day considered the original Sportbikegirl in the motorcycle community with her personal website, www.sportbikegirl.com. Her parents, Judd and Faye Weirbach, are making plans to attend and bring Tiffany's very own Honda CBR900RR. Rally headquarters will again be at Fontana Village Resort, located near Fontana Dam in Western North Carolina where the participants can choose from newly remodeled cabins or lodge rooms for their accommodations. The Resort boasts many unique and classic amenities that will make you feel right at home added with a bit of country, mountain flare. Special rates are available. All participants, both male and female, will receive a goodie bag, event t-shirt, raffle ticket for prizes, food and whatever else we can drum up to be included in their registration for the event. Details on pre-registration and pricing are in the works. Visit our website as stay upto date: www.womenssportbikerally. com. For any questions, feel free to email info@womenssportbikerally. com. The rally will welcome women and their guests of all riding levels the weekend of August 24-26-2007 near the famous 318 turns in 11 miles of Deals Gap - known as "The Dragon." All proceeds will be donated to Tiffany Weirbach's Melanoma Foundation who was the original "sportbikegirl" even though she was taken prematurely to the hands of cancer. |
