Fishing tourney supports Panthers

"Big Fish" and 2nd place winner Fred Cook.
Submitted article

The Union County Diamond Club recently held a fishing tournament on Lake Chatuge as a fundraiser for the UCHS varsity baseball team. The money goes toward helping the team pay to attend a University of Georgia baseball camp this summer.

The UGA camp provides a great opportunity for the players to see the college, train with the coaches, and participate in games on Foley Field.

First place honors were captured by Chris Robins and Jimmy Anderson with a total weight of 14.98 lbs. Second place was earned by Fred Cook, who was close behind at 13.71 lbs. Third place winners were Jeremy Dalton and Mingus with 12.60 lbs. Fourth place was awarded to Freddie Chastain and Jerry Ledford with 12.53 lbs.

The "Big Fish" prize went to Fred Cook with his fish weighing in at 5.86 lbs.

A special thank you goes to Perry Graves for helping make the tournament a success, and also to all the participants for coming out and supporting our youth.

The fishing tournament was sponsored by Re/Max Enotah Realty.
