Kent Kelley
Kent was born Monday, December 14, 1959, in Miami, Fla., to the late Clarence Kelley Jr. and Connie Kelley of Blairsville. He had lived in Miami until moving to Blairsville in 1992. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Blairsville and was past Commander, Lt. Commander, Adjutant and Chaplain of Sons of Confederate Veterans. Kent was a Little League Coach of K-Land Jr. Varsity in Miami. Survivors, in addition to his mother, are his brother and sisterin law, Rusty and Sylvia Kelley of Blairsville; sister and brother-inlaw, Charmaine and Mike Buttrill, also of Blairsville; nephew, Rodney Raymond Kelley; nieces, Jamie Kelley, Cristal Kelley, Adrienne Pitre and Karen Pitre; many other relatives and friends also survive. Funeral services were held Monday, April 16, 2007 at 11 a.m. from the Cochran Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. Fred Lodge and Rev. Jerry Karnes officiating. Music was provided by Minister of Music R. Terry Hooper. Interment followed in Union Memory Gardens Cemetery in Blairsville. Pallbearers were Homer Payne, Ernie Kamber Sr., Gollie Easter, Bill Holland, Jim Mason, Lester Sutton, George Radcliffe and Horace Plott. Honorary pallbearers were members of Boaz Sunday School Class. In lieu of flowers, Kent had requested that memorial donations be made to: International Fellowship of Christians and Jews, Isaiah 58 Project, 30 North LaSalle St., Suite 2600, Chicago, IL 60602-3356. Kent was an inspiration to all that knew him. Arrangements entrusted to the Cochran Funeral Home of Blairsville.
