Harley William Harkins

Mr. Harley William Harkins, 83, of Suches, Ga., died Tuesday, April 10, 2007 at Clay County Care Center, in Hayesville, N.C.

Mr. Harkins was born Sunday, May 6, 1923 in Union County, Ga., to the late James and Lola Abercrombie Harkins. He was a WW II U.S. Navy Veteran, and served as a Gunner on the U.S. Pennsylvania. Mr. Harkins was a member of the VFW. He retired from General Motors in Detroit, Mich. Preceding him in death besides his parents were two of his brothers, Ralph Harkins and Eldo Harkins.

He is survived by his wife, Rosemond Butler Harkins of Lincoln Park, Mich.; sister and brother-inlaw, Stella Mae and Cecil Hayes of Lenoir, North Carolina; brothers and sisters-in-law, Ira T. and Pauline Harkins, Clyde and Virginia Harkins,

Verlan Harkins, all of Suches; several

nieces and nephews, and a

host of friends also survive.

Funeral services were held Friday, April 13, 2007 at 2 p.m. from the

Corinth Baptist Church in

Suches with the Rev.

William Phillips officiating.

Music was by John

Jarrard. Pallbearers were Tom

Harkins, Robert Harkins, Craig Harkins, Phil Harkins, Dwight Harkins and Junior Ramsey. Interment followed in the Church Cemetery with Military Honors provided by The North Georgia Honor Guard.
