Piano students chosen for State Competition

North East Georgia Music Teachers Association's piano auditions were held at North Georgia College and State University in Dahlonega on March 30 and 31. Students of Jackie Hutson chosen as Finalists to compete at the Georgia Music Teachers Association's auditions on May 11 and 12 at the University of Georgia in Athens were: Rachel Todd 4th grade, Reagan Hooper 5th grade, Joseph Fowler 6th grade, Wilson Harmon 7th grade, and Kayla Fowler 12th grade. The performance competition is organized by school grade.

These students also completed a State Theory Test the same day (Level A, B, C, or D). Each student performed two memorized selections for the adjudicator one from Baroque-Classical literature and one from Romantic- Twentieth Century literature.

The adjudicator for this years NEGMTA auditions was Geoffrey Hayden, head of the piano division at Georgia State University in Atlanta, and is a widely acclaimed adjudicator and performer.
