Community/Calendar Narcotics Anonymous Mountain Folks Group meets every Friday night at 8:00 p.m. at New Hope Fellowship Church, 1299 Old Blue Ridge Hwy., next to Byers Well Drilling and on Tuesday Night at 7 p.m. at the New Hope Treatment Facility. Do you need a ride to and from your treatment sessions? A lack of transportation should not be the reason why cancer patients do not receive the life-saving cancer treatment they need. The American Cancer Society offers their Road to Recovery program to help transport cancer patients to and from their treatment. The Society has a toll-free number that you may call, and an operator will put you in touch with local volunteers that give cancer patients without personal transportation rides to and from their cancer treatment sessions. A place to share your thoughts and feelings and grow together with others who have experienced the loss of a loved one. Democratic Party Caucus The Democratic Party of Union County will hold a CAUCUS on Thursday, April 19 to elect members to the executive committee. The current representatives may run for reelection and other interested parties are encouraged to run as well. This is an excellent opportunity for those who would like to become more involved. If you are interested in representing your precinct, please contact Doug Gooch at 706-745-9325 for a qualifying form before the meeting date. These must be completed not less than 48 hours before the Caucus. Even if you do not want to be on the executive committee, please come and support those candidates for those positions. The featured speaker will be Virgilio Pascoe, the newly-elected Constituency Group Vice Chair for the State Democratic Party of Georgia. Study on peace The United Methodist Women of Sharp Memorial United Methodist Church are sponsoring a study on peace to be held in the fellowship hall of the church. The date is Saturday, April 21 from 9:30 a.m. until 3:00 p.m. A light lunch will be served. The text for the study is Shalom, Salaam, Peace. Shalom in Hebrew is Peace and Salaam is Peace in Arabic. The study is to be led by The Reverend Frederick Gray, a retired North Georgia Conference United Methodist Minister.
