Lady Panthers varsity soccer Head Coach Tim Hunter reached his milestone 100th win last week, in a 4-0 victory over the Hebron Christian Academy Lady Lions.

For Coach Hunter the win comes in only his eighth season, giving him an average of more than a dozen wins per season. It also occurred at a fitting time, during the last home game of the season as he recognized his senior Lady Panthers as they played their final game at Colwell Memorial Stadium.

Still, the coach said that in a way, the whole thing caught him by surprise. "It wasn't even anything I was expecting to get until I was just looking back at old records and I realized that we had a chance to get it this year," Coach Hunter said.

"It's a great accomplishment any time you put forth 100 wins," UCHS Athletic Director Jim Hughes said of Coach Hunter. "Tim has that enthusiasm for coaching and that definite will to win that it takes to stay with it through the good and the bad. We're very proud of him.

"He has done a fine job and he's been fortunate to have a lot of good players. A lot of girls who actually have never played soccer play when they get to high school. He's taken a lot of them who just like the competition and turned them out to be really good players.

While he said he was certainly proud of the accomplishment, when asked to sum up his thoughts on the matter, Coach Hunter maintained his usual sense of humor about it all.

"I was never really worried about getting my 100th win," Coach Hunter said with a laugh. "I've just been worried about getting one win 100 times I guess."
