Clyde Donald "Don" Fisher Mr. Clyde Donald "Don" Fisher, 81, of Blairsville, Ga., died Saturday, April 7, 2007 at Northeast Georgia Medical Center in Gainesville, Ga. Mr. Fisher was born Friday, December 11, 1925 in Mildale, Tenn., to the late James Boyd Fisher and the late Rosa Lee Fyke Fisher. He attended the University of Tennessee at Knoxville, receiving his Bachelor of Science degree in 1951, and later, his Master's degree. He was a Specialist 3 in the U.S. Army from 1954-1956, serving for several months in Munich, Germany, with the 42nd Medical Company. Don married Marcella Estella Humphries on February 4, 1953 in Knoxville, Tenn. They moved to Blairsville in 1958, when he accepted employment with the University System of Georgia Experiment Station as an Agronomist (Soil Scientist). He retired from the Experiment Station in July 1989. Don became one of Jehovah's Witnesses when he was baptized on December 8, 1974. He continued faithful to his God, Jehovah, as a minister of the good news until his death on April 7, 2007. Survivors include his wife, Marcie Fisher of Blairsville; daughters and sons-in-law, Donna and Michael Borman of Spring Hill, Fla., Diane and Jeff Hay of Dublin, Ga.; son and daughter-inlaw, Laurence and Stacy Rogers Fisher of Blairsville; daughter, Clara Fisher of Blairsville; grandchildren, Alisha Hay, Jared Hay, Amelia Hay, Michele Borman and Nathan Borman; and great grandchild, Alyana Swint. Memorial services were held Monday, April 9, 2007 at 7 p.m. from the Cochran Funeral Home with Elder Wayne Visage officiating. Graveside services will be conducted on Wednesday, April 11, 2007, from Elmwood Cemetery in Springfield, Tenn. Arrangements entrusted to Cochran Funeral Home and Crematory of Blairsville.
