Learning about banking and commerce are primary objectives of the United Community Bank Junior Board of Directors. In addition to this, it's important for the students to learn about government and our nation's economy.

To this end, United's Junior Board recently participated in a field trip to Atlanta where they visited the Federal Reserve to learn more about the Federal Reserve System and its role in our economy. The next stop was the Georgia State Capitol where Rep. Charles Jenkins spoke to the students about legislation and led them on a tour of the Capitol building. And what trip to Atlanta is complete without a fine meal? The Junior Board certainly took full advantage of the city's culinary offerings by topping off their day at Aspens in Marietta.

"United Community Bank is dedicated to the service of today's customers and communities, but we also realize the need to prepare the next generation to serve others, either in business, government or in the non-profit sector," says United Community Bank - Blairsville President, Andy Williams who accompanied the students on their field trip. "Our bank is proud to give these outstanding young adults the opportunity to expand their knowledge and give them a chance to see first hand how what they've learned in the classroom works in the real world.
