Elvie Mae Odom

Mrs. Elvie Mae Odom, 78, of Blairsville, Ga., died Wednesday, March 21, 2007.

Mrs. Odom was born Tuesday, March 27, 1928 in Union County, Ga., to the late Ernest Beaver and the late Vestie Thomas Beaver. She was a designer of models for the Rushton Toy Company. She was very creative working with her hands, and enjoyed crocheting and quilting. Elvie also sang gospel music, and was a member of Welcome Grove Baptist Church in Symrna, Ga. She was preceded in death by her husband, Hoyet A. Odom in 1998.

Survivors include daughters, Doris Parker of Ranger, Ga., Iris Sparks of Ackworth, Ga., and Eva Lanning of Smyrna, Ga.; son, Alfred Odom of Ellijay,

Ga.; brothers, Loys Beaver and Randall Beaver, both of Blairsville; sister, Birdie Davenport of Morganton, Ga.; six grandchildren, and ten great grandchildren survive, along with many friends and other relatives.

Funeral services were held Friday, March 23, 2007, at 11 a.m. from the Henry- Cochran Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Luther Thomas, Rev. Kennith Parker and Rev. Avery Beaver officiating. Music was by Luther Thomas, Sally Robinson and Charolett Young. Interment followed in Zion Hill Baptist Church Cemetery on Loving Road.
