Paris D. Handy
Mr. Handy was born Dec. 15, 1926 in Towns County, the son of the late Lloyd R. Handy and the late Ethel I. Hooper Handy. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army of the Korean War. Paris was an old car enthusiast. He also loved nature and enjoyed fishing. He was preceded in death by a sister, Geneva H. Kuykendall. Mr. Handy was a member of West Union Baptist Church. Surviving Mr. Handy is his loving wife of 52 years, Dorothy May Miller Handy of Young Harris; daughter and son-in-law, Danita and Paul Janson of Maryville, Tenn.; sons and daughters in-law, Dennis Handy of Young Harris, Donn and Stephany Handy of Asheville, N.C., Mark and Robin Handy of Young Harris; brother and sister-in-law, Hubert and Oleta Handy of Young Harris; grandchildren, Tayha, Stephen, Cody, Cary and Lloyd; several nieces, nephews and many other relatives and friends also survive. Funeral services were Friday, March 23, 2007 at 11 a.m. from the Old Union Baptist Church with the Rev. Lester Sutton and Pastor Mark Handy officiating. Special music was be presented by Terry Hooper. Pallbearers were David Kuykendall, Dennis Handy, Donn Handy, Mark Handy, Russ Cain and Stephen Janson. Honorary pallbearers were Bill Homan, Max Hooper and James Howell. In lieu of flowers if you wish, the family requests that you may plant a tree or commit a random act of kindness in Mr. Handy's memory. Interment will follow in the church cemetery with the North Ga. Honor Guard conducting Military Honors. Mountain View Funeral Home of Blairsville in charge of the arrangements.
