Local Banks Donate to Union County Public Library

Union County Public Library approached four local banks in January 2007 and asked them to contribute to the purchase of new tables for the library's LaVon Butt Multi- Purpose Community Room. Over the years the tables that are used by different community groups and organizations for meetings and also for the library's weekly Monday morning storytime have become rundown and have started to fall apart. Appalachian Community Bank/Blairsville and United Community Bank/Blairsville each donated $100 to help pay for the much needed furniture for the community room. Friends of Union County Public Library will help pay the remaining amount and will also be purchasing a table truck for storage.
