New Cosmic Concert premieres at Rollins Planetarium

Beginning on March 23rd, the new Friday night public show at the Rollins Planetarium will be Cosmic Concert 57. In this exciting 40 minute show, experience the thrill of spinning stars, computer animations, laser graphics and more, all synchronized to the latest rock music with a few old favorites in the mix. Viewing a Cosmic Concertis a stimulating way to experience your favorite music with interesting sights created by a star projector, lasers, and other lighting devices. Produced by current Young Harris College students Steve Armour, Tony Morris and Alex Windover, this show pushes the limits of your mind through sight and sound. Cosmic Concert 57 will be presented on the following Friday evenings: March 23 & 30; April 13, 20 & 27; and May 11 & 18.

Planetarium programs start promptly at 8:00 PM. Seating begins about 10 minutes before showtime. The planetarium is located in the Maxwell Center building on the campus of Young Harris College. There is no admission charge. (Please note: Cosmic Concerts contain loud rock music, strobe lights, spinning stars and other effects which may be disruptive to some. If you are sensitive to things of this nature, it is recommended that you do not attend.)

If skies are clear, the Young Harris College Observatory is open immediately after the planetarium show ends, which should be about 8:45. The observatory features a 16-inch telescope, and is located about a mileand a-half from campus on the grounds of the Brasstown Valley Resort. Maps are available in the planetarium lobby if needed. The observing session will include a guided tour of the constellations. The session will end between 9:30 and 9:45 PM. Keep in mind the observatory is open on the same dates the planetarium is open.
