Betty Jean Dyer Harrell

Mrs. Betty Jean Dyer Harrell, 80, of Rome, Ga., and Blairsville, Ga., died Monday, March 12, 2007.

Mrs. Harrell was born Wednesday, May 26, 1926 in Habersham County, Ga., to the late Norman Vester Dyer and the late Jane Self Dyer. Mrs. Harrell and her husband were part-time residents of Union County, Ga., and attended Grace Presbyterian Church while here in Blairsville. Mrs. Harrell was a member of First Presbyterian Church in Rome. Betty graduated from West Georgia College and GSCW. She was a former pink lady at Floyd Medical Center, charter and lifetime member of the New Romans Club, and belonged to the Old Unicoi Chapter of the DAR.

Survivors include her husband, J. Lee Harrell; son and daughter-in-law, Michael N. and Beth Harrell of Lookout Mountain, Ga.; son and daughter-in-law, Mark L. and Sherry Harrell of Norcross, Ga.; twin sister, Mary Helen Perry of Villa Rica, Ga.; sister and brother-in-law, Sarah Ruth and Dr. L.L. Trimble of Duluth, Ga.; grandchildren, Abbie Bryant, Ivey Harrell, Graham Harrell, Elizabeth Sydney Harrell, Megan Grace Harrell and Christopher Lee Harrell; nephew and niece, Jerry and Larissa Trimble; many other relatives and friends also survive.

Funeral services were held in Rome at First Presbyterian Church at 11 a.m., on Wednesday, March 14, 2007. The services were conducted by Dr. James Van Dyke and Rev. Scott Jackson. Visitation was held in Rome at Daniel's Funeral Home on Tuesday evening.

Graveside services were held Wednesday, March 14, 2007 at 3 p.m. from the New Liberty Baptist Church Cemetery with Rev. Scott Jackson officiating. Honorary pallbearers were Joe Dyer, Gordon Dyer, Lee Knight, Tom Lunsden, Bud Fitton, Tom Murphy, Bud Huggins, Larry Samples and Clyde Collins.
