Georgia Mountain Fairgrounds 2007 Calendar of Events Hiawassee Jamboree March 24, 2007; 7 - 9 p.m. Jim Wood & Hiawassee Jamboree Band is providing three nights of local entertainment throughout the spring and summer. Tickets: $10; children under 12 are free; parking is free Hamilton Rhododendron Garden April - May; 8 a.m. - 7 p.m. Located within the Georgia Mountain Fairgrounds, the Hamilton Rhododendron Gardens, open year-round, boasts one of the largest collections of hybrid rhododendrons in the state of Georgia. With more than 3,000 plants in bloom from early April to late May, visitors are invited to tour the gardens along their pine bark trail on the shores of Lake Chatuge. Admission: free, but a $3 donation is requested Superstar Concert Series presents George Jones and opening act Magician Mike Fuller May 12, 2007; 7 p.m. George Jones has had more charted singles than any other artist in any format of popular music. He was the Country Music Association Male Vocalist of the Year in 1962 and 1963. His video for "Who's Gonna Fill Their Shoes" won the CMA Video of the Year award in 1986. In 1992 the CMA inducted Jones into the Country Music Hall of Fame. Jones' 1999 gold-selling "Cold Hard Truth" earned him the 1999 Grammy Award for Best Male Country Vocalist. He was inducted into Nashville's Country Music Hall of Fame in 1996. On Inauguration Eve 2001, Price was proud to be on stage in Washington, D.C., as one of the Texasperformers who entertained enormous crowds at the Texas Black Tie and Boots Ball.
