Tragic accident takes life

A 17-year-old Blairsville girl died as the result of an early morning traffic accident last Tuesday, March 6.

Sarah Avery Infante, a student at Union County High School, was driving her 2004 Jeep Liberty south bound on Highway 129 north (the Murphy Highway) when her vehicle crossed the center line and crashed into a dump truck traveling in the northbound lane. The wreck occurred shortly after 8 a.m. and closed the highway for nearly two hours while the accident was investigated.

Infante was airlifted to Atlanta Medical Center but later died as a result of her injuries. The driver of the dump truck was not transported for medical attention.
