The Panthers made the three hour trek to Oglethorpe last week, picking up a 4-0 shutout win to start the region schedule off on the right foot.

Although it turned out to be an easy victory, Head Coach Chris Robbins said that the situation looked like it might be anything but easy prior to the game. "It was our first region game and we had never played Oglethorpe before. This was the first time we have played them as part of our region schedule, its the first time we have ever seen them. I was out four starters too. Injuries are killing me."

The Panthers were missing Russel Thompson and Brandon Anguelo, the team's leading scorers, along with two other players. "We talked about putting band-aids on things," Coach Robbins said. "The guys knew, 'this is what we're lacking.' Everybody out there stepped up and did exceptionally well. Some really good things came out of it. It was probably the best game as a team that we have played. It wasn't perfect, but we are getting closer to where we need to be."

Michael Myrick scored two goals, with one coming on a breakaway and one on a cross. Luis Mancillas scored on a cross as well while Ian Thomas scored on a shot from outside the 18. Those four goals were more than enough as the Panthers defense shut out their opponent.

The Panthers schedule doesn't get any easier next week, as the team will face a slew of opposition from within the region. "We're not talking about a friendly game in-between where can rest people," Coach Robbins said. "We're talking about every game meaning something."
