YHC takes two from Potomac St.

The Young Harris College Mountain Lions beat Potomac State 9-3 in the first of a series of games against the Catamounts last weekend. Georgia signee Will Harvil threw seven complete innings while only allowing five hits and two earned runs.

The Mountain Lion's defense was the best it has been all year as Zac Rhinesmith led the way by turning two double plays on tough balls up the middle.

Mike Lobacz had a big two out double in the bottom of the first inning to give the Mountain Lions an early two run lead. Lobacz finished with three RBI's on the day. Mike Markakis finished the day well getting two hits in his last two at bats scoring one and driving in two. Jordan Price had a good day at the plate going 2-4 with a run and an RBI.

The Mountain Lions came out swinging in Game 2 as the first seven batters of the game reached base, en route to a 10-4 win. The Young Harris offense ended the game with 10 runs scored on 12 hits. Seven of the nine starters had a hit including a 3-3 effort from Mark Thomas and a two hit game from Stephen McCray, Mike Lobacz, and Michael Hornsby.

Nick Terry got his second win of the season throwing 6 2/3 innings. Terry pitched his best game so far this season, striking out nine and only walking one.

In the third game Young Harris scored one in the first and second innings but let Potomac State explode for four runs off starting pitcher Stephen McCray in the third inning. YHC was unable to bounce back from the big inning and never regained the lead as the Catamounts went on to win 6-4.

The Mountain Lions got on board in the first with an RBI ground ball off the bat of Mike Lobacz. Lobacz hit .400 against the Catamounts with four runs scored and six RBI. Jon King finished the game 3-4 and scored two runs.
