Edna Shope Colwell

Mrs. Edna Shope Colwell, 91, native and lifelong resident of Blairsville, Ga., died Monday, February 19, 2007 at Union General Hospital in Blairsville.

Mrs. Colwell was born Friday, March 12, 1915 in Union County, Ga., to the late Chumley Shope and the late Maggie Everett Shope. Mrs. Colwell was a homemaker and a member of Mt. Pleasant #1 Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Horace Colwell and son, Vaughn Colwell.

Survivors include sons and daughters-in-law, Reid and Dora Colwell, Haskin and Austine Colwell, Jackie Colwell, all of Blairsville; sisters, Ina Belle Voyles of Carnesville, Ga., Eva Bowers of Blairsville; granddaughters, Annette Colwell, Gina Sullivan, and Paige Swartz; grandsons, Trannis Colwell and Joe Colwell, all of Blairsville; 12 great grandchildren along with many other relatives and friends also survive.

Funeral services were held Wednesday, February 21, 2007 at 2 p.m. from the Chapel of the Cochran

Funeral Home of Blairsville with Rev. Vernon

Davenport and Rev. Kenny Beavers officiating.

Music was provided by The Faith

Singers. Interment followed in the Mt.

Pleasant #1 Baptist Cemetery. Pallbearers

were Joe Colwell, Trannis Colwell, Earl

Sullivan, Toby Swartz, Lloyd Voyles and

Randy Shope. Honorary pallbearers included

Bryan Mason, Rufus Everett, Jerry

Everett, Wayne Everett, Worth Mason and

Charles Hughes.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that donations may be made to Mt. Pleasant #1 Baptist Church Cemetery Fund.
