Martha Mildred Brown Souther
Mrs. Souther was born Friday, April 16, 1937 in Cherokee County, N.C., to the late Wayne Brown and the late Willie Mae Chastain Brown. Mrs. Souther was a homemaker and a lifelong resident of this area. She was a member of Smyrna Baptist Church. Survivors include her husband, Suell Souther; son and daughter-in-law, Rev. Bryan and Helen Souther; daughters and sons-in-law, Rachel and Vernon Barnes, Debbie and Stanley Stepp, all of Blairsville; grandchildren, Amber and Matthew Gibson, Monica and Tony Gilbert, Brad and Nicole Barnes, Dana and Adam Fleming, Kerri Barnes, Derek and Nicky Stepp, Joshua and Kasey Stepp, all of Blairsville; great grandchildren, Samuel and Micah Gilbert and Hunter Fleming; several nieces and nephews also survive. Funeral services were held Monday, February 26, 2007 at 2 p.m. from the Chapel of the Cochran Funeral Home of Blairsville with the Rev. Guy Wayne Shook and the Rev. Tony Couch officiating. Music was provided by Becky Rogers. Interment followed in the Ebenezer Baptist Church Cemetery. Pallbearers were Tony Gilbert, Brad Barnes, Adam Fleming, Matthew Gibson, Derek Stepp, Joshua Stepp, Samuel Gilbert and Micah Gilbert. Arrangements entrusted to the Cochran Funeral Home of Blairsville, Georgia.
