Linda Pickelsimer Allen
Mrs. Allen was born Jan. 17, 1949 in Union County, the daughter of the late Howard Pickelsimer and the late Wilma Shope Pickelsimer. She was a native and lifelong resident of Union County. She grew up on her family farm, where she and her family raised chickens. When she married Lloyd, they continued the family business for many years. She also worked for Georgia Boot for several years. She and her husband owned and operated A & D Garbage Service for the last several years. Linda was a loving wife and a friend to all who knew her; she never met a stranger. One of Linda's favorite pasttimes was fishing, which she was rather good at, and she also loved gardening and canning and preserving what she grew. Mrs. Allen was a member of Faith Baptist church. Surviving Mrs. Allen is her loving husband of forty two years, Lloyd Allen of Blairsville; aunts, Eva Shope Bowers of Blairsville, Ina Belle Voyles of Blairsville; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and many other relatives and friends also survive.
Funeral services were held Sunday, Feb. 25, 2007 at 2 p.m. from the funeral home chapel with the Rev. Ric Hurd and Rev. Bryan Mason officiating. Special music was presented by The Kelly Trio. Pallbearers were Randy Shope, Terry Pickelsimer, Ronnie Davis, Caleb,Casey and Cody Bearden. Interment followed in the Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church cemetery.
