Richmond Lance

Mr. Richmond Lance, 66, of Morganton, Ga., died Friday, February 16, 2007 at the Northeast Georgia Medical Center in Gainesville, Ga.

Mr. Lance was born Thursday, August 29, 1940 in Union County, Ga., to the late Stanley Ga., to the late Stanley Thomas Lance and Lora Richards Lance. He was a lifelong resident of this area and was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War. Mr. Lance was preceded in death by a sister, Juanseal Lance Dowell and by his father, Stanley Thomas Lance.

Survivors include his wife, Ruth Lance; mother, Lora Lance; daughter, Connie Keiger, all of Morganton; daughters and sons-inlaw, Deborah and Don Shearouse of Waynesboro, Ga., Dianne and Daniel Abernathy of Murphy, N.C.; sisters and brothers-in-law, Frances Butler, Carneal and Franklin Burnette, Mildred Baucom; granddaughters, Kimberly (Adam) Weinberg, Kristina Keiger, Christy Shearouse, Carolyn Shearouse, Hailey Abernathy and Caitlyn

Mitchell Lance and Mitchell Lance and

Matthew Abernathy;

great grandchildren, Mackenzie and Austin Weinberg.

Funeral services

were held Sunday,

February 18, 2007 at 3 p.m. from the Chapel of Cochran Funeral Home with the Rev. Grady Ray, Rev. Ray Harper and Rev. Allen Swofford officiating. Music was provided by Albert and Martha Davenport and Rev. Grady Ray. Interment followed in Mt. Zion Baptist Church Cemetery. Pallbearers were Larry Stedham, Cecil Beaver, Don Cook, Clayton Mason, Mitchell Lance, Tony Prickett and Terry Dowell. Honorary pallbearers were Wayne Cook, Tim Dowell, Stan Dowell, Steve Butler, Mike Butler, John Butler and Lowell Botts.
