The JV Panthers ended their season with a very tight game at Rabun County last Friday, where the Cats pulled out a narrow 47-42 win.
Scoring was slow at first, as Union held a 3-0 lead until the 2:12 mark in the opening quarter. The teams were tied 5-5 after one. In the second quarter Rabun pulled ahead 15-9, but Jake Levens hit a trey to cut the lead to 15-12 before the end of the half.
Rabun established a 32-24 lead in the third period, but Union battled back to stay within reach of the Cats. Late in the fourth quarter the Panthers found their touch from three-point-land, and a Josh Colwell three gave the team a 40-39 lead with 1:17 remaining. Rabun answered but Josh Walker put Union back on top 41-40 with 55 seconds left.
The contest was tied 42-42 after a Brad Beside free throw, but Rabun took control of the game in the final seconds, pulling out a close victory.
