Candace Williams might not could have picked a better game to have a career night. Williams scored a career high 31 points Tuesday night, helping the Lady Panthers defeat Dawson 69-54, eliminating them from the 2007 Region 8AA Tournament.

Williams alone scored more than double Dawson's point total in the first quarter, outscoring their team 16-7 in the opening period. The rest of the team added another six points, giving Union a commanding 22-7 lead entering the second quarter.

Dawson opened the second period with a trey to cut into the lead, but Union kept pace, holding a 15 point lead 35-20 going into the half.

In the third period the Lady Panthers came out strong once again as Lauren Dyer hit a three and Williams dropped in a layup to push the lead to 40-20, but by the end of the period it was back to 46-31, the same 15- point advantage where it had been at the end of the first two quarters

Williams shot the lights out from outside the arc, inside the arc, and at the free throw line. Here she earns a trip to the line as she is fouled on her drive.
Dawson threatend in the fourth quarter, trimming the lead to single digits with 5:59 to play, but the Lady Panthers never allowed them to get within fewer than eight points, and finished the game with the same 15 point lead that they held at the end of every quarter. Candace Williams led all scorers with 31 while Lauren Dyer and Sarah Fulghum were also in double digits with 16 and 10 respectively.
