Onzell Pitts Pruitt

Mrs. Onzell Pitts Pruitt, 81, of Blairsville, Ga., died Monday, February 12, 2007 at Union County Nursing Home.

Mrs. Pruitt was born Wednesday, May 27, 1925 in Oglethorpe County, Ga., to the late Onnie Pitts and Ruth Bell Pitts. She was a member of Faith Baptist Church and was a Pink Lady at Union General Hospital. She was preceded in death by brother, Elmer Pitts; sisters, Frances Elizabeth Pitts and Janie Lou Carlisle.

Survivors include her husband, Jim Pruitt of Blairsville; son and special friend, Dr. Jim Pruitt III and Betsy Carpino of Pagosa Springs, Colo.; daughter and sonin law, Beth and Rev. Ric Hurd of Blairsville; son and daughter-inlaw, Bruce and Melanie Pruitt of Watkinsville, Ga.; brothers and sister in-law, John Mel and Claudia Pitts of Elberton, Ga., Marvin and Betty Ann Pitts of Stone Mountian, Ga.; nine grandchildren and three great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held Friday, February 16, 2007 at 2 p.m. from the Faith Baptist Church with Rev. Richard Helms and Rev. Ric Hurd officiating. Music will be provided by Antioch Trio from Watkinsville, Ga., and pianist, Judson Hurd. Interment will follow in Union Memory Gardens.

The family will receive friends at Cochran Funeral Home, Blairsville, from 6-9, Thursday, February 15.

Mrs. Pruitt will lie in state at the church starting at 1:30 p.m. Friday.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that donations may be made to The Gideons. The Cochran Funeral Home of Blairsville, Georgia is in charge of arrangements.
