UCB of Hayesville contributes to local scholarships

Dr. John W. Wells, president of Young Harris College, recently accepted a $1000 donation to the Young Harris College Local Scholarship Fund from United Community Bank of Hayesville. Mrs. Glenda Cheeks was on hand to make the presentation.

Through this gift to the Local Scholarship Campaign, United Community Bank of Hayesville helps Young Harris College provide much needed scholarship aid to area students wishing to attend Young Harris College.

In keeping with its mission of serving the people of Towns, Union and Fannin Counties of North Georgia and Clay and Cherokee Counties in North Carolina, Young Harris College awards nearly $1,000,000 of its own resources each year to local students in the form of scholarships. The Local Scholarship Campaign helps to meet this need and is sponsored by the Young Harris College Board of Associates, a group of area volunteers and community leaders.

If you wish to make a contribution to support local students, please contact Pam Shelnutt in the Young Harris College Office of Institutional Advancement at (706) 379- 5216. For more information about Young Harris College, visit us on the web at www.yhc.edu.
