UCB Employees Support Children's Healthcare of Atlanta Children everywhere look for birthday and Christmas gifts. To make these wishes come true, children hospitalized at Children's Healthcare of Atlanta have enjoyed more $10,000 worth of toys purchased with money raised by employees of United Community Bank - Blairsville since last July. "Our employees have purchased 32 portable DVD players, movies, Gameboys® with games, infant activity sets, crib mobiles, board games, coloring books, wooden puzzles, dolls and lots of other miscellaneous items that will stay at the hospital," says Elisa Shook, Loan Teller. "We have made three trips to the hospital, taking a bundle of gifts each time. We have one final trip scheduled in February." Children's Healthcare of Atlanta was formed in 1998 by the combination of Egleston Children's Healthcare System and Scottish Rite Children's Medical Center. With 452 staffed beds in three hospitals, and more than 490,000 patients each year, Children's is recognized for excellence in cardiac, cancer and transplant services, and more than 30 other pediatric specialties. The system also features several satellite locations around metro Atlanta including five Immediate Care Centers and two Primary Care Centers. The center's 5,900 employees, 1,400 pediatric physicians and 20,000 volunteers make sure all the young patients are well-cared-for. |
