Class of 2007 athletes recognized at Senior Night

Fans look at a table of photos of the basketball seniors.
During Friday night's final home basketball game of the regular season, UCHS held its annual Senior Night. This year UCHS' basketball and basketball cheerleading programs will graduate 11 seniors, including six Panthers, two Lady Panthers, and three cheerleaders.

A table in the lobby of the gym displayed photographs of each of the seniors being recognized, and during the break between the two varsity games, each senior was acknowledged during a ceremony at half court. The class of 2007 includes:

Corey Garrett

Corey is the son of Stanley Garrett. He has played varsity basketball for 4 years. He was named Defensive Player of the Year his Junior year. His hobbies are hanging out with friends and family and living life to the fullest. Corey plans on playing basketball in college and getting a degree in Business Management. He would like to thank God, his family, and his friends for supporting him in everything he has done.

Caleb Kelley

Caleb is the son of Janice Kelley. He has played basketball for four years and golf for three years. Caleb's hobbies are hanging out with friends and family and riding around town with Da Boys. Caleb plans on attending Young Harris College in the fall. Caleb would like to thank God, his family, and friends in supporting him in everything he does.

Taylor Neely.
Taylor Neely

Taylor is the son of Jason and Cindy Neely. He has played basketball for 4 years and has been on the football team for 4 years. Taylor plans to go to college and become a coach after high school. He would like to thank his mom, dad, and sister. Welcome to the T-Dawg zone.

Kody Owenby

Kody is the son of Ricky and Traci Owenby. He has played basketball for 4 years and has been on our football and baseball teams for 4 years. He received the Coaches Award for football this season. His hobbies are hunting, fishing, camping, riding dirt bikes, and racing dirt track. He plans to attend college after graduation. He would like to thank His mom and dad, Kyle, Kolt, and Becca for their support.

Colton Payne

Bridgett Garrett.
Colton is the son of Jeff and Rhonda Payne. He has played varsity basketball for 4 years. He has participated in Beta Club, Student Council, Junior Board of Directors, and the Youth Leadership Union. He has received the American Citizenship Award and the GPA award for the 2005-2006 basketball season and has been recognized of the National Honor Society, Who's Who, and the Wendy's High School Heisman. Colton plans to attend college and become a member of PT Enterprises after high school. His hobbies include playing basketball and golf and hanging out with friends and family. Colton would like to thank his family, friends, and coaches that have helped and supported him through his basketball career.

Matt Schmidt

Matt is the son of Pat and Lori Schmidt. His plans after high school are to go to college and major in physics. Matt has played basketball for 3 years. His hobbies include playing the piano, rollerblading on the sun, and long walks on the beach. He'd like to thank Jesus and Muhammad Ali for teaching him his fancy footwork.

Caleb Kelley.
Ian Thomas

Ian is the son of Jim and Betsy Thomas. He has participated in basketball for 1 year. Ian has also participated in soccer for 3 years, cross country for 4 years, and his church youth group. Ian has received Who's Who, Soccer Offensive Award for 2005-2006, and the Cross Country Leadership Award for 2006-2007. Ian enjoys playing sports and hanging out with friends. Ian plans to attend college in the fall and obtaining a degree in Sports Medicine. Ian would like to thank God, his family, and his friends.

Jess Seabolt

Jess is the daughter of Ricky and Terry Seabolt. Jess's hobbies are softball, basketball, and soccer. She has played varsity basketball for four years and played basketball for a total of ten years. Jess has received the Coach's Champion Award once and the Most Outstanding Guard award twice . Jess has played softball for four years. She received the offensive player award. After high school Jess plans to go to college, get a job, get married, and start a family. Jess would like to thank her parents for all of the time and effort that they have put into coming and supporting her through the years.

Corey Garrett.
Lauren Dyer

Lauren is the daughter of Chris and Dale Dyer. She is the Student Council and Senior Class President. She has received awards in softball for first team all region, offensive player of the year, and the coach's award. In basketball she made the second team all region and received post of the year. Lauren has played basketball for 4 years. After high school Lauren plans to play softball for Young Harris College. Lauren's hobbies include softball, basketball, and spending time with her friends and family. She would like to thank her Mom, Dad, Sister and entire extended family and close friends for supporting her in all her endeavors. She would like to give a special thanks to the basketball team for a fun four years, especially the last three, in which we grew closer and got better. Also, I would like to give a big thanks to Coach West for teaching me how to win against the odds and play to my capability. Thanks to April and Jeff for choosing me for fantasy basketball.

Crystal Mayfield.
Brittney Grant

Brittney is the daughter of Tom and Susan Grant. She has been a basketball cheerleader for 4 years. She has been Captain for 2 years, Co Captain for 1 year. Brittney is a member of the Beta Club, and a member of the United Community Junior Bank Board of Directors. Her awards include Who's Who, National Honor Roll, National Leadership Merit Award, and National Society of High School Scholars. Her hobbies include hanging out with friends, shopping, and eating at Downtown with Sara and Anne. She would like to thank her parents for their encouragement and guidance through the years. She would also like to thank her brother for always being there for her. Afterwards she plans to attend Florida College, pursue a career in the medical field, find Mr. Right have a family, and live happily ever after in a house with a white picket fence.

Crystal Mayfield

Crystal is the daughter of Dorothy Mayfield. She has participated in Basketball Cheerleading and Varsity Soccer. She was recognized as athlete of the week for soccer in 2006 and athlete of the week for Basketball Cheerleading in 2007. After high school she plans to attend Young Harris College and continue to play soccer. Hopefully, become a teacher and marry the man of her dreams. She has been a varsity cheerleader for 3 years. Her hobbies include hanging out with Bridgett, Cullen and Maria. She would like to thank God. Crystal would like to thank her mother for all of her support over the years.

Bridgett Garrett

Bridgett's parents are Ronnie and Connie Garrett. Bridgett has participated in basketball cheerleading, softball, and beta club. She was awarded with the Most Valuable Cheerleader in 2005-06. Bridgett has been a varsity basketball cheerleader for 4 years. Her hobbies are cheerleading, spending time with friends and hanging out with Crystal. After high school Bridgett plans to go to college with her best friend Jess and major in early childhood. Bridgett would like to thank God, her Mom for pushing her in everything she does and her daddy for always being there for her.
