Jenkins appointed to Transportation Policy Committee

State Representative Charles Jenkins has been appointed to the House Democratic Caucus Transportation Policy Committee.

The Transportation Policy Committee is charged with studying and making legislative recommendations on making Georgia's highway funding is balanced between rural and urban Georgia, improving gridlock and investing in mass transit.

"Georgia has one of the best transportation networks in the country but our cities and counties need critical funding to keep important projects moving forward. We are going to look at this and other ways to improve our transportation options in this state," said Rep. Jenkins. I am honored to have been appointed to this position and look forward to working with the other committee members."

House Democratic Leader DuBose Porter (DGovernor Dublin) noted, "Representative Jenkins has a deep commitment to making Georgia's highways and roads more viable which will lead to economic development and job creation. There is no one better legislator to serve on this committee."

"Rep. Jenkins believes that improving Georgia transportation network will improve the quality of life for the citizens of Georgia. I am confident he will do a good job in this very important position," said House Democratic Caucus Chairman Calvin Smyre (D-Columbus).

Representative Jenkins serves on the Economic Development and Tourism, Game, Fish and Parks and Retirement committees.
