Historical Society Corporate Partner: Colwell Construction

Carlton Colwell, Luke Colwell and Betty Jane Shuler.
Historical Society Board Member Betty Jane Shuler presents a framed photograph of the Old Courthouse to Carlton Colwell and his grandson Luke Colwell. This presentation is in recognition of Colwell Construction Co. upgrading its membership to Corporate Partner of the Union County Historical Society, the highest level of annual membership.

Carlton and his brothers Pat Jr. and Robert (Bob) started Colwell Construction in the early 60's and have been operating continuously for over 40 years. The company specializes in grading and paving and operates an asphalt plant in Hayesville.

In addition to working in the family business, Carlton Colwell faithfully served our region in the Georgia House of Representatives for 30 years. Luke Colwell has recently come home to Blairsville to work in the family business. Colwell Construction realizes the importance of preserving the special character of our mountain community, particularly in this time of rapid growth and change. We thank them for supporting our goals.

The Historical Society is in the mists of it's 2007 membership drive and encourages all community members, businesses, professionals, and non-profits to join. Membership and planned giving support the Historical Society's preservation mission and efforts. Help preserve Union County's mountain heritage for generations to come by joining or contributing; please call 706/745-5493.
