Mountain Community Chorus to begin Spring rehearsals

Rehearsals begin for the spring concert on Feb. 5th with performance dates of Fri., April 27th and Sun., April 29th with final rehearsal on Thurs., April 26th. The chorus practices every Monday night at 7:00p.m. in the recital hall of the Fine arts building, Young Harris College. Auditions will begin at 6:00p.m. Registration begins at the same time. There is a need for more tenors and basses to become part of the chorus.

The program this spring promises a wide range of appeal to audiences and singers. The plan is to build the program around colonial and early American music, especially emphasizing some delightful Shaker tunes, Moravian hymnody, some sacred harp flavoring, and some early Protestant hymn tunes with some more modern jazzy settings. Also included possibly will be some civil war era pieces and perhaps early folk tunes borrowed from the native cultures of early immigrants.

So, mark your calendars and plan to come on February 5th for an audition or to register. This group of singing ambassadors is a blessing to all who hear them and to all who perform. So see you on Monday, Feb. 5th, ready to put together this wonderful program for the community.
