Union General Hospital debuts its new wing. Fewer than 950 vote in the Primary Runoff. September

Blairsville banks take extra precautions as bank robberies occur in neighboring Towns County.

E-911 changes are detailed to the city council.

22nd annual Southeastern Bluegrass Festival is held in Blairsville.

October

Campaigning heats up as candidates for State Rep. and District Judge address the issues.

July: Senator Zell Miller spoke at a breakfast held by Concerned Women of America before ending the morning by signing copies of his book.

The Sorghum Festival and parade are held.

City council begins enforcing junk ordinance. November

Voters elect three new members to the Union County School Board.

Georgians elect Casey Cagle as the first Republican Lt. Governor.

Union Sentinel accepted into Ga. Press Association.

December

City Council decides not to levy a tax on property owners in 2007.

Arrests are made in a string of burglaries that occured in Blairsville and Union County.

An armed robbery occurs at Pat's Hallmark.

October: Halloween on the Square offered lots of fun for kids and adults, including a costume contest. October: The Sorghum Festival Parade made its annual trek through town.
