Hiawassee Jamboree

March 24, 2007; 7-9 p.m.

Jim Wood & Hiawassee Jamboree Band is providing three nights of local entertainment throughout the spring and summer. Hamilton Rhododendron Garden

April-May; 8 a.m. -7 p.m.

Located within the Georgia Mountain Fairgrounds, the Hamilton Rhododendron Gardens, open year-round, boasts one of the largest collections of hybrid rhododendrons in the state of Georgia.

With more than 3,000 plants in bloom from early April to late May, visitors are invited to tour the gardens along their pine bark trail on the shores of LakeChatuge.

Admission: free, but a $3 donation is requested

Superstar Concert Series presents George Jones

May 12, 2007; 7 p.m.

George Jones has had more charted singles than any other artist in any format of popular music. He was the Country Music Association "Male Vocalist of the Year" in 1962 and 1963. His video for "Who's Gonna Fill Their Shoes" won the CMA Video of the Year award in 1986. In 1992 the CMA inducted Jones into the Country Music Hall of Fame, and his 1999 "Cold Hard Truth" earned him the 1999 Grammy Award for Best Male Country Vocalist. Jones continues to headline more than 100 concerts a year, including this one as part of the Superstar Concert Series at the Georgia Mountain Fairgrounds. Superstar Concert Series presents Ray Price

June 2, 2007; 7 p.m.

Ray Price has been entertaining and innovating country music for over half a century. He was inducted into Nashville's Country Music Hall of Fame in 1996 but has long shown his genius in other genres as well. Price can still belt out a song with the best of them, whether it's honky-tonk, country, pop, blues, jazz, or anything in between. On Inauguration Eve 2001, Price was proud to be on stage in Washington, D.C., as one of the Texas performers who entertained enormous crowds at the Texas Black Tie and Boots Ball. He is also excited about delivering a great performance as part of Georgia Mountain Fairgrounds' Superstar Concert Series. Georgia Mountain Roots & Music Festival

June 8-10, 2007

Look forward to the Georgia Mountain Roots & Music Festival this spring. 4th of July Fireworks Extravaganza

July 4, 2007; 9:45 p.m.

Gather your friends and family this summer and celebrate Independence Day at the Georgia Mountain Fairgrounds with a Fireworks Extravaganza!

In participation with United Community Bank, the Fairgrounds will shoot off thousands of pyrotechnics. This is sure to be a show that will light up the mountain sky and end your 4th of July with a bang.

Superstar Concert Series presents Josh Turner

July 7, 2007; 7 p.m.

New artists dream about the kind of results Josh Turner achieved with his 2003 debut, Long Black Train. Hiawassee Festival of Arts

August 25 - 26, 2007

During summer, the small mountain community of Hiawassee enjoys a much cooler climate than typical humid Georgia weather, but each August the area will become a hotspot of culture. Visitors flock to the historic Georgia Mountain Fairgrounds for the two-day outdoor, juried Hiawassee Festival of Arts, presented by the non-profit Mountain Arts Association. GeorgiaMountain Fall Festival

Georgia's OfficialState Fiddlers' Convention

October 19 - 20, 2007

During a selected weekend of the Georgia Mountain Fall Festival, the Fairgrounds hosts Georgiaís Official State Fiddlers' Convention. Throughout this event, performers of all ages will compete in various musical categories such as senior fiddler, junior fiddler, bluegrass band, finger-style guitar, flat pick guitar, banjo and mandolin. After initial competitions, a winner will be declared in each category. Then, the winner from both the junior and senior groups will complete in a "Fiddle Off," where that winner will be declared the "Georgia Mountain Fiddle King." Superstar Concert Series presents Neal McCoy

December 8, 2007; 7 p.m.

Neal McCoy is known as not only a country music icon, but also as a family man and an indefatigable USO headliner, with three treks each year to Iraq, Afghanistan and anywhere else American troops need a taste of home. Always the unpredictable entertainer, capable of veering from one of his own million-selling hits into "Whole Lotta Love," "YMCA," or anything else, even his own band sometimes has no idea what he is going to do next.
