On Dec. 31, during the morning worship service at Mountain Presbyterian Church, USA, a Patriotic quilt was given to Marine Lance Corporal Gunnar Belton in appreciation for his service to our country. Gunnar was a 2003 graduate of Union County High School. The red, white, and blue quilt was made by Sue Royal, Nancy Calkins, Nancy Jones, and Pat Krick. Gunnar's parents, Skip and Diana Belton; brother, Tucker Belton; and sister, Nicole Belton; were present when he received the quilt. The Belton family has had a long history of military service. Gunnar's grandfather and father were also Marines. After two tours of duty in Iraq, Gunnar now is preparing to return for his third tour.
