Kiwanis donates to Enotah CASA

Blairsville Kiwanis Club President Buddy Moore recently presented a donation to Richard Paolillo for Enotah CASA, Inc. The contribution will benefit children in foster care in Towns and Union counties.

Every year hundreds of children are abused, neglected or abandoned by the very people they should trust to protect and love them. Because the parents are unable or unwilling to care for their children, these helpless youngsters may be placed in foster homes or group homes, and they eventually end up in juvenile court and social service systems.

CASAs, Court Appointed Special Advocates, are ordinary people with extraordinary concern for children in need. They are appointed by the judge and work alongside attorneys and social workers as appointed officers of the court. CASA's goal is to provide every child that is removed from his or her home with a volunteer to ensure that their best interests are presented to the system throughout the entire process and that the child's voice is heard.

Kiwanis International is a thriving service organization of service-minded men and women who respond to the unique needs of their communities and address worldwide issues by "Serving the Children of the World." Throughout its history, the Kiwanis name has been synonymous with endeavors that build character, knowledge, commerce, communities, and - through genuine concern for children - hope. Kiwanis is "Serving the Children of the World." Join Kiwanis in responding to the unique needs in our community through service projects. The Kiwanis Club meets at the Cobbs Mill in Blairsville at 12 noon on each Monday.
