Kolodner in concert at Folk School

The John C. Campbell Folk School in Brasstown will present a free concert by internationally acclaimed hammered dulcimer player and fiddler Ken Kolodner at 7:30 pm Friday, January 19 following a public exhibition of Folk School student crafts from 6:40 - 7:00 p.m in the Keith House Community Room, where the concert will be held.

As a member of the trios Helicon and Greenfire, Ken Kolodner has toured extensively throughout North America and Europe. Known for his expressive and improvisational style, Ken has taught hammered dulcimer and fiddle at countless festivals and music camps and has been featured in nationally broadcast concerts on NPR, German National Radio, the CBC and Voice of America. His 1999 appearance as soloist with a combined chorus and chamber orchestra from the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra was broadcast in an Emmy-nominated CBS-TV Christmas special. Among Kolodner's eight recordings is a solo recording that hit the top of the World Music charts and was a top seller for BMG in their classical/worldmusic category. One of his recordings with Helicon won an "Indie" for Best Seasonal Recording.

Upcoming concert series performers at the Folk School include folksinger Madeline MacNeil (Thursday, January 25) and The New Southern Ramblers (February 2). The Friday night concert schedule is available on the world wide web at http://wwwfolkschool.org.
