April: First Baptist Church of Blairsville held its annual Passion Play, which entertained more than 1,500 guests with dramatic scenes like this one, depicting Christ's crucifixion.

Former local business owner Leonard Parker is arrested in connection with two bank robberies.

Master Sergeant Eric England is honored as "history's greatest long-range shooter."

Womens Enrichment Center prepares to move. Residents learn that electric bills will go up in April. March Ten digit dialing takes effect. Appalachian Community Bank is robbed.

Casey Cagle, who would go on to win the election for Lt. Governor, campaigns in Union County.

Abomb threat is called in to the Union County Courthouse, but no explosives are found.

May: Union County High School held graduation for the class of 2006, as the seniors shared one last moment together before moving forward with the next chapter in their lives.

The Tour de Georgia returns to Union County.

Jim Hughes named new UCHS Athletic Director.

May Union County High School graduates 143 seniors.

Blairsville City Council agrees to close a portion of Wellborn St. for student safety.
