Judge Stone honored

Judge Stone was presented with a portrait painted by Pat Aube Gray.

Judge Hugh W. Stone was given a retirement party at the Ridges Country Club in Hiawassee on December 7, 2006 with a good attendance by members of the Enotah Bar.

Stone was admitted to the State Bar of Georgia in April 1960 and practiced law in Atlanta until 1975 when he and his family moved to Blairsville. On August 10, 1992 he was appointed Chief Judge of the Superior Courts of the Enotah Judicial Circuit by Governor Zell Miller and was elected unopposed for three terms of office.

Judge Stone has received Senior Status through the Governor’s Office which enables him to go to any county in Georgia when needed to serve as Judge. He is also a member of the First United Methodist Church of Union County, Union County Rotary, American Legion Post 121, and Union County Chamber of Commerce.
