JV Lady Panthers battle inexperience

The junior varsity Lady Panthers basketball team battled both opponents and inexperience over the weekend, falling to Murphy and Towns County.

The Lady Panthers played the Lady Bulldogs tight through the first half, trailing 10-9 at the end of the second period.

In the third quarter Murphy began to pull away, and finished with a 42-23 win. Mary- Catherine Edmondson led the team with 10 points.

The j.v. Lady Indians of Towns County jumped out to an 11-0 lead at the end of one period of play, but the Lady Panthers fought back in the second quarter, narrowing the gap to 13-9. Towns would hold on for a 26-17 win. Brittany Odom led Union with 6 points.
