INSTIGATING LOGIC
I rooted for the Florida Gators. I actually wanted them to make it into the championship game. I know, in many ways its inexcusable and just plain wrong but hear me out. First and foremost let me say that I could have never brought myself to do it if Spurrier was still the coach. But he's not, and that fact alone leaves me with less dislike for the Gators. Second, they deserved the chance. Michigan had its shot against Ohio St., and couldn't do it, so let someone else try. Last, but not least, they were the darkhorse going into the final week, and I like an underdog. But more than anything else, parity is a good thing. I'm tired of seeing USC make the most of a soft schedule each year to win a trophy. It's time for some new blood, even if it is Gator orange and blue. What's in a word? It amazes me that with the situation in Iraq being what it is, there still seems to be plenty of time for the media and the White House to go back and forth over what to call it. The White House prefers "sectarian violence" while NBC has officially declared the crisis a "civil war." So I propose a compromise. How about, Civiltarian Warolence? As long as we're making the terminology the focus, why not? At least that might settle the argument and free up some time to concentrate on figuring out a few other things. Things like, achieving victory, maybe? Besides, it's not like this would be the first non-word that Bush has coined. Who could forget such classics as "misunderestimated" and "suiciders." Apparently words don't have to be real words, in order to be words. Ironically, that too sounds like something Bush might say. |
